On Tuesday Delta Academy students toured Joliet Junior College's Culinary Arts Program in downtown Joliet. The tour provided students with a first hand look into all of the kitchens and additional information about what a career in the culinary arts can look like. We were also able to witness an ice sculpture demonstration, and got a peek at their two on campus student run restaurants, Saveur and Thrive!

✨ Last Friday, our Transitional Employment Program (TEP) students shared their creativity and kindness with district staff by delivering handmade keychains and greeting cards! Featuring school mascots and positive messages, these items were a hit — with over 100 keychains and 200 cards made! 💙
This project not only showcased the students’ artistic talents but also their growing confidence, teamwork, and workplace skills.
Up next, TEP students are spreading more joy with festive holiday cards and personalized keychains — just in time for the holidays! 🎁✨

The Delta Program went to the South Suburban Humane Society in Matteson on November 6th to volunteer. Students, alongside Mrs. Dobrovits and Mrs. Delrose, performed a variety of tasks for the animal shelter. Many loads of laundry were folded, floors were mopped, bathrooms and surfaces were cleaned and sanitized, enrichment items were created for the dogs, and most importantly we helped socialize the animals. It was a wonderful day of giving back to an organization that does so much for all of the surrounding communities! It is always a pleasure to volunteer there, and in the words of one of our students who attended, Joe Schmitz, "this is soul work".
📚💙 Happy National School Psychology Week! 💙📚

🌳 Last Thursday, our Delta Program students enjoyed the beautiful weather with a volunteer trip to our Adopt-A-Site location at the Midlothian Reservoir! Partnering with the Cook County Forest Preserve, students focused on litter cleanup — collecting 4–5 bags in just one hour! It was a rewarding day filled with fresh air, teamwork, and community pride. 💚 #D228Pride #CommunityService #DeltaProgram
