Congratulations to the Hillcrest Speech Team for their participation in the IHSA Regional Series this past Saturday. Hillcrest competitors included Nasir Ward competing in Informative Speaking and Jazmine Glover advancing to the final round in two categories, Oratorical Declamation and Dramatic Interpretation. Earning a 4th place medal in the final round of Original Oratory and a spot on the IHSA Sectionals Team was Oluwadamilola “Gabby” Sogbesan for her original essay entitled “More Than A Name”. Gabby goes on to compete at Thornton High School this coming Saturday, 2/14/2026. #hillcresthawkpride

Pashance submitted a powerful photography series centered on our football team, featuring junior Micah Robinson as the main model.
Jordin earned Honorable Mention for her stunning paper sculpture—well deserved!

💙 Hoodies for Hawks💙
Former Hillcrest teacher and coach Mr. Hennessy, alongside current teacher Kenya Young, teamed up to collect donations for Hoodies for Hawks—and the response was incredible!
Over $1,400 was raised by teachers, staff, administration, and students. Hawks were surprised with “Bleed Blue” hoodies and heartfelt notes, reminding them just how supported they are. #hillcresthawkspride

Students in IT classes attended a Southworks Meet and Greet at GSU.
The students met with various industry professionals presenting job opportunities in the fields of robotics and avionics as they relate to manufacturing.
Students came away with real world experience in interviewing and networking with prospective employers. Over all, it was a huge success!

Hillcrest DECA collaborated with the BedsPlus homeless organization to provide 11 bags of coats totaling 70. In addition, DECA students prepared 100 lunches for the homeless individuals served by BedsPlus. #hillcresthawkpride
Chris Garcia, representing the highly selective Northwestern Medicine Discovery Program, attended Tuesday nights board meeting to help honor Jahir Perez and Dani Perez for their outstanding achievements.
The Discovery Program offers students rare, real-world exposure to medical careers—an incredible opportunity that Jahir and Dani have embraced with pride and excellence.
Jahir and Dani represented Hillcrest beautifully, and we couldn’t be more proud of all three students.
