Bremen High School District 228 students explored career pathways and connected with industry professionals during a career fair hosted by Delta Academy at South Suburban College on September 29.

The event welcomed students from Bremen, Tinley Park, Hillcrest and Oak Forest high schools, along with Delta and Achieve. Students had opportunities to ask questions, learn about career training and consider the many paths available after high school.

With 47 vendors in attendance, the fair offered a broad range of opportunities across skilled trades, allied health, human services, transportation, military service and public safety. Employers, colleges, unions and community organizations provided connections to careers and programs that students could explore as they plan their next steps.

The skilled trades and career training lineup included IBEW Local 134, Pipefitters Local 597, Operating Engineers Local 150, Chicago Women in Trades and Universal Technical Institute. South Suburban College programs highlighted options in cosmetology, barbering, highway construction and more.

Students interested in health care could learn about pathways in nursing, dental hygiene, physical therapy, phlebotomy and other allied health fields. Additional organizations on the roster included Metra, Pace, the Illinois Department of Transportation, Job Corps, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and several branches of the military.

By bringing these resources together, the fair gave students an opportunity to connect their interests with potential careers and learn more about education, apprenticeships and workforce training.
