BHSD 228 students gained an up-close look at modern manufacturing careers through a series of company tours held in recognition of Manufacturing Week.

Students visited six manufacturers and industry partners across the region:

  • Ability Engineering in South Holland

  • CIT Trucks in Mokena

  • Donson Machine in Alsip

  • Morrison Container Handling Solutions in Glenwood

  • National Tube Supply in University Park

  • Ozinga in Mokena

During the tours, students explored a variety of workplaces, observed manufacturing and technical processes, and learned about the skills, education and training required for careers in the industry. They also had opportunities to speak with employees about their work and the many career paths available in manufacturing, engineering, transportation and related fields.

Manufacturing Week highlights the essential role manufacturing plays in local communities and the broader economy. It also helps introduce students to an industry that increasingly relies on advanced technology, innovation, problem-solving and highly skilled employees. By connecting students directly with local employers, Manufacturing Week helps young people see how their classroom learning can translate into rewarding careers close to home.

BHSD 228 thanks Ability Engineering, CIT Trucks, Donson Machine, Morrison Container Handling Solutions, National Tube Supply and Ozinga for supporting students and providing meaningful, firsthand exposure to the manufacturing industry.

Through partnerships with local businesses and organizations, BHSD 228 remains committed to preparing students for success after graduation by connecting classroom instruction with real-world learning and career exploration.
