Brody Lynch, a former student in Bremen High School’s media program, has been named a national nominee in the 2025 National Student Production Awards (NSPA), presented by the Foundation of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Lynch earned national recognition in the Non-Fiction – Short Form category for his documentary HAE, representing the Chicago/Midwest Chapter.
The National Student Production Awards honor excellence in student television and media production, spotlighting high school storytellers who demonstrate exceptional creativity, technical skill, and impact.
Brody’s nominated documentary, HAE, tells the story of Luke, a lifelong friend living with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) — a rare genetic disorder that causes unpredictable episodes of swelling.
“This documentary was created to highlight Luke’s journey with his rare genetic disorder,” said Lynch. “I’ve known Luke my entire life, and many people don’t know his story. That’s why I wanted to create this documentary about HAE — to raise awareness and find a cure for the future. Everyone has a story, and as a filmmaker and storyteller, it’s my job to bring those stories to life.”
Lynch continued, “It’s an honor to be nominated on the national level, however my goals were not to win an award but to spread awareness about HAE, and that’s what was accomplished. In the future, I hope to carry on the same mindset and storytelling abilities to help share stories and experiences to inform and help others.”
Bremen High School media advisor Michael Lynch commended Brody’s dedication to his craft and message.
The winners of the 2025 National Student Production Awards will be announced via live stream on November 21, 2025, at 12 p.m. (CT).
Bremen High School, part of Bremen High School District 228, continues to celebrate the achievements of students who participate in its media and communications programs, which empower young creators to tell impactful stories through film, journalism, and digital production.
