District 228's 1st Cross-Curricular Production

On November 10th, students from Mr. Mike Lynch's district-wide Communication Arts & Technology Class (a class that focuses on TV production skills) teamed up with Mrs. Rachel Flood's Culinary Class from Bremen High School to create the district's first-ever cross-curricular production called, Bake Off!

While culinary students baked and decorated cupcakes, students in the Communication Arts & Technology Class filmed the process, edited, and produced the show.

District 228 Superintendent Brad Sikora, Bremen High School Athletic Director Eric Washington, and Bremen High School Assistant Principal of Teaching & Learning Jessica Rucinski served as guest judges.

Cupcakes were judged based on taste and flavor, decor/design, creativity, and presentation.

Culinary students designed their cupcakes based on themes from various holidays. In this episode of Bake Off! cupcakes included:

-St. Patrick's Day Lemon Cream Cheese Cupcake
-Halloween Chocolate Oreo Cupcake
-Fourth of July S'mores Cupcake
-Valentine's Day Red Velvet Cupcake
-Eath Day Vanilla Candy Cupcake

After deliberation, judges decided that the best cupcake was the Fourth of July S'mores Cupcake created by the Red Team. They really wanted "S'more!"
