D228 Awarded State Library Grant

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — The Bremen Community High School District 228 in Midlothian and Midlothian School District 143 are two of 12 districts in the south suburbs to receive grants through the Illinois Secretary of State's school library grant program. D228 will receive $3,672.75 and District 143 $1,228.50 to add more library books and materials to students, State Sen. Napoleon Harris, III said in a news release.

"I am thrilled to announce that schools in the south suburbs will receive additional funding for their libraries," the Democratic senator from Harvey said. "This grant will provide assistance with helping schools gather more materials to enhance students reading abilities and hopefully increase the number of students who want to pick up a book."

Other districts receiving grant money for the same purpose include Crete-Monee School District 201 ($3,232.50), Brookwood School District 167 in Glenwood ($795.75), Harvey School District 152 ($1,311.75), West Harvey-Dixmoor School District 147 ($750), Homewood School District 153 ($1,428), Dolton School District 148 in Riverdale ($1,487.25), South Holland School District 151 ($1,140.75), South Holland School District 150 ($750), Steger School District 194 ($1,055.25) and Thornton School District 154 ($750).
