Abbott & Fenner (A & F) Scholarships

To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on one of the two topics below. Your submissions must be sent to us by email at www.scholarships@abbottandfenner.com

Essay Deadline: June 20, 2009

AES Engineers Scholarship

AES Engineers are offering a $500 scholarship award to students attending a post secondary educational facility in fall 2009. Students are not required to be taking engineering courses to be eligible. Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the two questions that are posted on this site: www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm.

Application deadline: October 6, 2009.

AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) 13th District Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

Eligible students must be a high school senior, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a B, and be either of Greek heritage or have a parent that is an active member of the AHEPA family. Detailed eligibility requirements are listed on page one of the application under guideline and can be obtained by visiting www.ahepa.org/.

The American Legion

The American Legion offers a book and website dedicated to providing you with scholarship, grant and loan information on 1,400 colleges called Need a Lift? Check out their website at www.needalift.org.

In addition, the American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest brochure is available at www.legion.org. Participants in the contest share $138,000 in college scholarships annually.

Barbizon Schools of Modeling, Personal Development and Related Creative Arts

Barbizon College Scholarship Awards Program is an ongoing program offering a free four-year college tuition scholarship valued at up to $100,000. These awards are given to students who show the most dramatic improvement in their middle or high school grades while they are attending Barbizon. Simply fill out this entry form for your chance to win at www.barbizonscholarship.com. One winner is randomly chosen every twelve months.

BigSun Organization Scholarship

Attention Athletes! If you are planning on playing a sport in college you should apply for this scholarship opportunity. All student athletes are eligible for this $500 scholarship award. For more information visit their website at: www.bigsunathletics.com Application Deadline: June 27, 2009

***Don and Mary Cranley/Josten Scholarship

The Cranley/Josten scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior. To qualify you must fill out an application and write an essay describing "Who at Tinley Park High School has been the most influential person to your during your high school career and why?" Applications are available in P.P.S. office. All information is to be turned in to Dr. Wilks by May 7th

Great Clips Scholarship

Great Clips salon owners are offering $500 scholarships for individuals interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering after graduation. The scholarships can be used at any accredited cosmetology or barbering school in North Illinois and Northwest Indiana. Student applicants must complete a one-page essay, complete the application form and provide a letter of recommendation. Applications are located in the counseling office.

Illinois PTA Scholarship

Are you interested in Education or a field of study related to Education? The Illinois PTA scholarship offers an opportunity for seniors from every public high school in Illinois to be eligible. To be eligible a student must be in the upper 25% of the class, a graduating senior preparing to enter an education program requiring certification from the Illinois State Board of Education, and the application postmarked on or before December 1, 2009. Two scholarships will be awarded in each of Illinois PTA’s 20 districts: 1st place recipients will be awarded $1,000 and 2nd place recipients will be awarded $500. Applications are also available at www.illinoispta.org

***Korean War Veterans Association

This is a $500 scholarship offered to a graduating senior. There is a heavy emphasis on academics and service to others. To qualify you must fill out an application and write an essay describing "What does world peace mean to you and why? Applications are available in the P.P.S. office.

All information is to be turned in to Dr. Wilks by May 7th

Nordstrom Scholarship Program

This scholarship is open to high school Juniors who maintain a grade point average of 2.7 and have made a substantial contribution to the community. Nordstrom's will provide five scholarships in the amount of $10,000 to be paid in annual installments of $2,500 over a four-year period. To apply, you must complete an application, prepare a personal statement, provide a financial statement, provide a letter of recommendation and create an original essay on a topic listed in the application, along with a copy of your high school transcript.

Application deadline: May 31, 2009

 

***Red and Gold Scholarships

Two $250 Scholarships will be awarded to two graduating seniors. To qualify you must fill out an application and write an essay describing "School Spirit and what does School Spirit mean to you". Applications are available in P.P.S. office. All information is to be turned in to Dr. Wilks by May 7th
