AXA Achievement Scholarship
Applicants are required to describe in detail an outstanding achievement they have accomplished in a non-academic activity or project. Barbizon College Scholarship Awards Program is an ongoing program offering a free four-year college tuition scholarship valued at up to $100,000. Burger King is offering a $1,000 scholarship to all eligible high school seniors. Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program
Tinley Park High School Scholarship Committee is looking to nominate one outstanding senior for this program and scholarship contest offering a grant of $1,000.
To qualify you must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher, demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences demonstrate a strong commitment to and involvement in community service, plan to attend an accredited, non-for-profit college, university, or vocational/technical school in the United States. Employees of Comcast, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their families are not eligible. To be considered for nomination you must write a 250 word essay on the topic: "As a senior, how can involvement in community service be of value". Please staple a copy of your transcript to the essay and turn it in to Dr. Wilks in the PPS Office by November 10, 2008.
***Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest
Prudent Publishing Company is sponsoring this scholarship contest. This is an annual $10,000 contest to create a holiday card, birthday card or all-occasion greeting card. Artwork or a simple digital photo can be entered, no complicated or oppressive rules involved. You can apply on-line at www.gallerycollection.com.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Program and Scholarship Contest
Tinley Park High School Scholarship Committee is looking to nominate one outstanding senior for this program and scholarship contest. The DAR program is a recognition program designed to recognize students who have the following qualities: dependability, leadership, service and patriotism. The student chosen for this recognition is then able to participate in the DAR scholarship contest. The scholarship award amount will vary. If you would like to be considered for the DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship Contest please submit a 250 word essay on, "Why I should be the senior chosen to participate in the DAR Program". The Gates Millennium Scholars
The Gates Millennium Scholars is a program established to provide outstanding, low-income, African-American, American Indian/Alaskan Natives, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete college in any area they choose for FREE! You may receive funding for college throughout your entire academic college career.
The goal of this program is to promote academic excellence by providing thousands of students with a significant financial need with the opportunity to go to college. ***Horatio Alger Association’s State Scholarship Program
The Horatio Alger Association’s Illinois Scholarship program is offering twenty-five scholarships worth $5,000 each. In order to be eligible for the Horatio Alger Illinois Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

be enrolled full time as a high school senior in Illinois, progressing normally toward graduation, and planning to enter college no later than the fall following graduation;·
have a strong commitment to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution located in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution);·
critical financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred; if higher, an explanation must be provided);·
involvement in co-curricular and community activities;·
demonstrate academic achievement (minimum grade point average of 2.0);·

IEA/NEA Educational Scholarship
Are you planning to pursue a career in teaching? Is your parent or guardian working or worked in the field of education (Teacher, Counselor, Principal, Secretary, and Social Workers etc.). Ask your parents or guardian if they are a member of the Illinois education Association or the National Education Association. Illinois PTA Scholarship
Are you interested in Education or a field of study related to Education? The Illinois PTA scholarship offers an opportunity for seniors from every public high school in Illinois to be eligible. To be eligible a student must be in the upper 25% of the class, a graduating senior preparing to enter an education program that requires certification from the Illinois State Board of Education, and the application must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2009. Two scholarships will be awarded in each of the Illinois PTA’s 20 districts: 1st place recipients will be awarded $1,000 and 2nd place recipients will be awarded $500. ***KFC Colonel’s Scholar’s Program
KFC is offering a $5,000 scholarship (per year) to all enrolled high school seniors. You must have a grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale; plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year accredited public (state-funded) college or university, as long as the student stays on track to complete a bachelor’s degree program. Leopold Education Project Scholarship Program
The Northeastern Illinois Council of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, of which the Will-South Cook Soil and Water Conservation District is a member, is awarding scholarships in amounts up to $500 to students seeking a four-year degree in a Natural Resource field. Students must be high school seniors or graduates (diplomas or GED certificates), must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four year college or university in a natural resource field, have a 3.0 grade point average or better (on a 4.0 scale), and permanently reside in one of the following counties: Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will or Winnebago. ***McKelvey Foundation Scholarship
The McKelvey Foundation is honored to award $40,000 in scholarships to young entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses. You can apply online at

Own and operate a business for at least one year (non-profits are OK)·

A $750.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student who meet the height requirement. A minimum height of 5’10" for females and 6’2" for males is required. Prudential Spirit of Community Award
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary community service. This is a very prestigious award and in order to be eligible you must have engaged in volunteer activities at least by the start of September 1, 2006. St. James Hospital and Health Centers Auxiliary
The St. James Hospital and Health Centers Auxiliary are giving away three $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors or college/technical school freshmen. To qualify for these scholarships students must: volunteer in one of the hospital gift shops a minimum of 120 hours before April 24, 2009, have a grade point average of 3.5 or better, provide two letters of reference from teachers/counselors, submit a 500 word essay on "The Importance of Volunteering". Application, letters of reference and the essay must be received by May 1, 2009
***Toyota Community Scholarship Contest
Tinley Park High School Scholarship Committee is looking to nominate one outstanding senior for this unique program and scholarship contest. This contest offers $10,000 or $20,000 in scholarships. Toyota Community is seeking a candidate who has an outstanding academic record, is an effective leader, and has a well-documented record of service both within and outside the school setting. If you would like to be considered for the Toyota Community Scholarship, please submit a 250 word essay on "Why I should be the senior chosen to participate in this outstanding program". ***U.S. Bank Scholarship
U.S. Bank is offering up to thirty scholarships valued at $1,000 each. The scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college on a full-time basis next fall. Scholarship award recipients are selected through a random drawing process. There is no essay or minimum grade point average required. Vito and Nick’s II Scholarship/ Rick & Colleen Simon
Have you been employed at Vito and Nick’s II of Tinley Park? This scholarship is being offered to students who have been employed at Vito and Nick’s II of Tinley Park for at least 1 year. You must be in good standing as an employee. The scholarship award amount will depend upon the number of people who qualify; it will be no less than $100 per recipient. Students must complete an application, workplace project, and submit a class schedule identifying the school they plan to attend after graduation. Application deadline: November 3, 2008
The Will-South Cook Soil & Water Conservation District
Will/South Cook SWCD has three $1000 scholarships available to students seeking a four-year degree in a natural resource field. Students must be high school seniors or graduates, (diplomas or GED certificates) and must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four year college or university. In addition, they must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or better (on a 4.0 scale) and meet residency requirements.
