ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The childcare program is designed to meet a three fold purpose as follows:
bullet

Teach the high school students the knowledge, skills, and responsibilities of running a preschool program.

bullet

Teach the high school students a better understanding of child development through class work and the lab experience.

bullet

Provide an opportunity for preschoolers in the community to start their educational career.

Junior and senior high school students register for this class after taking the prerequisite childcare 1 course.  It is a two hour class that has both book work and practical application through the preschool.  The students are required to work in teaching groups that create, plan, design, and implement lesson plans.  The students' grades are determined by their lessons for the preschoolers.
The childcare program is developed for preschoolers ages 3 to 5 who are toilet trained.  It is three days a week (usually Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).  The current tuition for the program is $175.00*.  That covers the whole preschool year (October to the end of May).  These preschoolers do not need to live in the high school district, but must have their own transportation to and from the high school.
While the preschoolers are at school, they will be working through our five core curriculum areas.  The preschoolers will go through math, science, art, dramatic play, and fine motor skill activities.  These lesson are design to teach preschoolers through fun activities.  More ->
