In the event that it becomes necessary to close school due to weather or other emergency conditions, District 228 will notify the city news bureau, which will notify the radio stations listed below.

News of school closings will then be broadcast by these radio stations: WMAQ 670, WGN 720, WCGO 1600, WBBM 780, and WBBM-FM 960.
