8TH GRADE INFORMATION

THIS IS YOUR BAND!

The Bremen High School Band is here for you! You will have the opportunity to carry on the traditions of the band, and create new ones too. You are an important part of the success of the band program at Bremen High School. You will help shape this program during your time here. We will be exactly as strong an organization as you want to be. If you choose to put forth the effort, you will find great success as a member of the Bremen High School Band, and we will find the same successes as a group. We invite you to be a part of our growing organization, to develop life-long friendships, to develop as both a musician and an expressive human being, and to have a lot of fun! Welcom to the Bremen High School Band!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I be involved in sports and still be in band?

YES! We have many athletes in the band. We also have students who participate in a variety of other activities at Bremen High School and in our community. The key to participating in multiple activities is time management. The time management skills that students learn as members of the band will help them succeed and excel in all of their activities, sports, and academics.

Do I have to be in a band class to be a member of the band?

Yes. It is very important that all band members be in a band class. Although we have some rehearsals outside of the school day, each band class meets for 55 minutes during each day as a class.

Which band class should I take as an incoming freshman?

Concert Band / Symphonic Band - This class is for all incoming freshman who already know how to play an instrument and can read music.

Jazz Band - This is a class that you must audition for. Please contact Mr. Salgado if you are interested.

Beginning Band - This class is for any student who does not already know how to play a band instrument, but woud like to learn.

How do I sign up for a band class?

You must tell your counselor that you want to be in a band class when you come to register. You must also contact Mr. Salgado to ensure that you are enrolled in the correct band class and are given all of the information you need.

Do I have to be in the marching band?

Yes. You are in the marching band if you are in the following classes: Intermediate, Concert, Symohonic, and Honors Symphonic.

Is credit offered for band classes?

Yes. Every band class can be taken for full credit. Every band class can be taken as Pass/Fail or for a grade (which then counts towards your GPA).

In order to be in the jazz band, you must contact Mr. Salgado for an audition.
